Auckland · Rodney to Franklin

Auckland land clearing, from steep Rodney blocks to Franklin paddock edges.

From steep lifestyle blocks and neglected paddocks in Rodney to kikuyu-heavy rural land in the north-west and difficult banks and property margins across Franklin, we cut and mulch overgrown vegetation with commercial 4×4 flail mowers and remote-controlled tracked mowing equipment. That covers rural land clearing, overgrown sections and ongoing vegetation management across Auckland’s rural fringe.

Auckland land clearing: cleared overgrown block, Auckland region

The rural fringe

Auckland’s rural fringe comes with very different mowing problems.

Auckland’s rural land changes quickly from north to south. Around Rodney and rural North Auckland, lifestyle blocks, orchards, coastal sections and steep paddocks can leave owners with banks, gullies and corners that ordinary ride-on machinery cannot safely reach. Across Kumeū, Waimauku, Riverhead, Coatesville and Helensville, long kikuyu, scrubby margins, uneven ground and tight lifestyle-block access can turn routine maintenance into specialist mowing work.

Further south, Clevedon, Hunua, Drury, Karaka, Pukekohe, Bombay and Waiuku bring a different mix of farms, rural-residential properties, paddock edges and steep boundaries. Whether the problem is gorse, blackberry, kikuyu, woolly nightshade, long grass or mixed scrub, we match the machine to the ground and the vegetation rather than trying to force one approach onto every Auckland property.

Much of what we clear is more than a nuisance. Woolly nightshade, for example, is a pest plant under Auckland Council’s Regional Pest Management Plan, which sets out what landowners and occupiers are responsible for. Regular mulching is one practical way to keep it under control without spraying, although it doesn’t on its own meet every obligation in the plan. We also clear privet on suitable Auckland blocks.

Machinery for the fringe

Built for Auckland’s steep, uneven and hard-to-reach ground.

A rural Auckland job can move from open paddock to uneven ground, a steep bank or an awkward lifestyle-block margin within the same property. In Rodney and the north-west, access and ground conditions can be as important as vegetation density; around Franklin and rural South Auckland, steep boundaries, paddock margins and difficult corners can put conventional ride-on mowing out of its depth. We choose between our commercial 4×4 flail mowers and remote-controlled tracked mowing equipment to suit the vegetation, terrain, ground conditions and access, and very soft or boggy ground isn’t suitable for our machinery. Our flail mowing and land mulching page explains how both work.

The 4x4 flail mower clearing an Auckland rural block
  • Coastal sections & steep banks.Remote-controlled tracked mowing equipment for suitable Rodney and west coast slopes a ride-on can’t safely work.
  • Kikuyu-heavy paddocks.Thick kikuyu, gorse and blackberry cut and mulched in place, with no raking or cart-away.
  • Access checked first.Send a photo of the gate, driveway or access lane so we can confirm whether our machinery can get in.

Before you book

Auckland land clearing questions.

Do you provide land clearing across rural Auckland?

Yes. We work right around Auckland’s rural fringe, including Rodney, North-West Auckland, West Auckland, rural South Auckland, Franklin and the Clevedon and Hunua areas, on suitable rural and lifestyle properties.

Do you service Rodney and rural North Auckland?

Yes. We service suitable projects around Wellsford, Warkworth, Snells Beach, Matakana, Puhoi, Wainui, Silverdale, Dairy Flat, Te Arai and surrounding Rodney and rural North Auckland areas.

How much does land clearing cost in Auckland?

Every Auckland job is quoted individually. The price depends on the size of the area, how dense the vegetation is, the terrain and ground conditions, access to the work area and travel to the property. Our guide to what affects the price explains the main factors. Send us the location, a few photos and an approximate area for a quote.

How should I prepare my property for land clearing?

Show us the area you want cleared and tell us about any hidden hazards, such as fencing wire, waratahs, rocks, holes or rubbish. Point out any plants or vegetation you want protected, and let us know how a machine reaches the work area, including gates, driveways and shared access.

Can you clear gorse, blackberry and kikuyu?

Yes. We cut and mulch kikuyu, gorse and blackberry on paddocks, boundaries and banks, along with long grass, scrub and other suitable vegetation, depending on the site and safe access. Some growth can return, so follow-up mowing may be needed.

Do you work on steep Rodney and Waitākere blocks?

Yes, where the site suits our machinery. Our remote-controlled tracked mowing equipment can work suitable steep faces on lifestyle blocks, coastal sections and banks without anyone standing on the slope. We assess the terrain, ground conditions and access first.

Do you work on Auckland lifestyle blocks and orchards?

Yes. We work on suitable lifestyle blocks, orchard margins and rural-residential properties, including overgrown paddocks, access margins, banks and difficult-to-maintain areas.

How do Auckland quotes work?

Send us the address and a few photos of the growth, the ground and the way in. For north-west lifestyle blocks, a photo of the gate or driveway helps, as access is often the tight part.
