Northland properties often combine the things that make ordinary mowing difficult: rolling or steep ground, long rural boundaries, gullies, uneven patches and vegetation that has had time to thicken into scrub. A paddock that was once manageable can become a specialist job once gorse, blackberry, kikuyu, woolly nightshade, long grass or mixed scrub take hold.
Around Whangārei and Central Northland, the work can range from rural blocks and paddock margins to steep banks and difficult corners. Mechanical clearing keeps suitable land usable while you plan longer-term control, but it doesn’t on its own meet every obligation the council sets out. Machinery for rough country
Choosing the right machine for Northland’s slopes and paddocks.
Northland properties can combine steep banks, uneven ground, long rough paddocks, dense scrub and access points that limit conventional mowing equipment. The difficult area might be a gully behind an otherwise open paddock, a coastal slope on a lifestyle block, or a scrub-covered boundary that hasn’t been reachable for years. We choose between our commercial 4×4 flail mowers and remote-controlled tracked mowing equipment according to the slope, vegetation, ground firmness and access, rather than treating every property as a standard ride-on mowing job. Identify the area you want cleared and let us know about anything hidden in the growth, such as old fencing, wire, waratahs, rocks, holes or rubbish. Tell us which trees, plantings or native vegetation must be protected, and describe how a machine reaches the work area, including gates, gravel roads and farm tracks.

Can you clear gorse, blackberry and dense scrub in Northland?
Yes, where the site suits our machinery. We cut and mulch gorse, blackberry, long grass, kikuyu, woolly nightshade and dense scrub in place. Some regrowth can occur, so follow-up mowing may be needed.
Can you handle Northland’s steep coastal country?
Often, yes. Northland has plenty of steep, uneven country, from coastal faces to inland gullies.
